When Ryan–a native of the DMV–was born his parents were in the middle of a major renovation, so he has been living and breathing construction his whole life. In high school he learned the art of painting while working for a large residential painting company for two summers. He also aced his high school senior project by presenting to the committee what he learned while helping his friend renovate a hundred year old home. He loved construction so much that he earned a bachelors in Construction Management from BYU.
While attending BYU, Ryan served as the president of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) club and participated in various competitions. After graduation in 2005 he worked as a superintendent with a large homebuilder. In late 2006, the housing market took a downturn and all the new recruits were let go. This episode in his life turned out to be one of the greatest unforeseen blessings because a few months later he started RK Construction and hasn’t been without work since.
In 2017 he met Peter, who quickly learned how much he enjoys residential construction. Peter worked for RK Construction and soaked in everything he could in a short time and mastered the art of residential remodeling. Not too long after, Peter and Ryan became partners and started Mt Airy Remodeling, which they enjoy running together today.
Peter was born and raised in Maine, and has since lived in Canada, Vermont, Florida, and Washington. He graduated with honors (Tau Beta Pi, Chi Epsilon, Sigma Xi, and a Barrett Scholarship) from the University of Vermont, earning his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering. He also passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
After graduating college in 2010, he worked as a project engineer for several large commercial general contractors in Florida and then Seattle, WA. He then decided to change direction and leave his desk job in corporate construction for more hands-on work in residential remodeling.
Peter moved to Maryland in 2017, where he met and began working with Ryan. In 2022, he obtained his MHIC license (MHIC #146266) and founded P Larson Construction LLC. Shortly thereafter, Peter and Ryan partnered up to run Mt Airy Remodeling.
When not working, Peter enjoys spending time outdoors camping, hiking, kayaking, and fishing/crabbing.
